The teen Community Club had its first meeting last night. To kick off our year of giving back, our teens created their very own Muppet-inspired cards that will be delivered to ill children in the hospital. By supporting Cards for Hospitalized Kids organization, we can prepare as many cards as we like, box and ship them, and know they will go exactly where they are needed! Our teens did a fantastic job recreating some of their own beloved childhood characters and even making a few new ones! Our next meeting will be on November 15 featuring Presents for Pets! Teens will be making handmade dog and cat toys to donate to a local animal shelter. If you are interested, you need to register in advance to receive the service credit. Contact me, Ms. Nadine, at the library for more information. We also kicked off our collection for Operation Gratitude. Troops are in need of comforts from home. Drop in now through Nov. 17 with items to donate and join in and feel good this fall! Don't miss out on all the fun this fall. Summer has ended but that doesn't mean your good times at the library have too. Sign up for our Community Club, Homework Helpers and Tech Tutors and keep earning service hours even when it's not summer. And, if you want to have a little scary fun this Halloween, don't miss our evening of Ghost Stories with spooky storyteller, Elizabeth Rowe! And get ready for the new Graphic Novel Club "Yak and Snack" starting in October. There's always something fun at the Locust Valley Library!
The dog days of summer may still be here, but our summer reading program has come to an end. It went out with a Bingo Bash last Friday night! Thank you to all the teens that helped make this summer one of the best ever. With over 70 volunteers, weekly winners, and lots of creative programs with friends, July was a wonderful month here at the library. Here's a snapshot of some of the memorable moments we shared at the Locust Valley Library.
